Sleeping Beauty

Every little girl knows the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty Aurora. So, when I had the opportunity to attend one of the worldwide known Ballets from St. Petersburg performing this play, I jumped on the occasion.  Combining two of my favourite things, Disney and Dance: CHECK.
For over a week I was tormented by what I would wear, which hairstyle to pull of and how to do my make-up.  I somehow figured out what makeup look to go for.

The Base
As it was suppose to be a long night, I applied a Smashbox Photo Finish ColorCorrecting Primer, before covering up my face with layers of makeup.
Next step was Foundation. I opted for Yves Rochers Pure Light Foundation incolour Beige 300.  It is currently my favourite foundation as it is very light and gives you this healthy look we are all looking for.
To cover my under eye circles I used NW25 and for all the little imperfection I used NC35.
To finish everything of, I applied my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent, to fix the base.

The Eyes
For the eyes, I didn’t use any primers, as my eyelids aren’t oily at all.  I only worked with my Naked 2 palette.  Before starting of with the eye shadows, I applied my Manhattan X-ACT EyelinerWaterproof IN MOCCACINO 94Z to the upper waterline and the bottom lash line.
Next, I used a good layer of FOXY all over the eyelid and YDK in the corner of the eye, blended the same colour into my crease and to my bottom lash line to give it a more smoked look.
Then, I reapplied my Manhattan X-ACT Eyeliner Waterproof IN MOCCACINO 94Z, into the upper lash line, to make my lashes appear fuller.
Last but not least, Mascara. Benefits they’re REAL! Will do the trick.  Now, you could stop here, but I always like to put some of Manhattan Khol KajalEyeliner in NUDE COUTURE 51D into my bottom waterline.

The Brows
Once I brushed them with a spoolie,  I used my beloved Sephora Eyebrow pencil in 02.  I finished everything of by contouring the brows with some concealer to soften out the edges and by fixing them with a clear brow gel.

The Finishing Touch
A look is never complete without bronzer, blush and highlighter.
However, some of you will know by now that bronzer isn’t my favourite thing. Still I manage to contour my face with Yves Rochers Bronzing Powder Duo.
For blusher, I choose MAC Ambering Roseblush.  Rediscover this blush again 3 weeks ago, and let me tell you I couldn’t go I day without it since then.
Kikos Dazzling Highlighter in 01(discontinued), left his shimmer under my brow bones, on my cheekbones, down my nose and on my Cupid’s bow.

The lips.
I didn’t want the lips to take the attention away from the eye, that’s why I opted for go-to  nude lipstick Lancôme Rouge in Love  in 240M.

With this look, I may wasn’t the star at the ballet as all the costumes were just breath taking, but it did transport me into the world of fairy tales.  The look being classy and timeless I will definitely pull it of more often.
What do you thing of this makeup look? And what were you up to this weekend?

  10. You have such gorgeous eyes! What do you think of the smashbox primer? I'm looking to purchase a new primer.

    1. Thank you Elizabeth, that is so kind of you. I really like the smashbox primer, it is a colour correcting one and it really does the job. My makeup stays put all day long however the consistency is a bit weird (silicony and a bit velvety).
